about kamy
Kamy Bruder was born and raised in Strasbourg, France. His father owned a motorcycle store which Kamy loved to play around in. Eventually the playing led to riding motorcycles, and at the age of eleven, he started racing motocross. At first, motocross was a fun hobby for Kamy and his family and they enjoyed traveling together, but it soon became clear that Kamy was destined to excel at the sport and he became serious about motocross as a career. His racing brought him to America where he traveled around the country and observed our society through the lens of being foreign-born. The inequities of our acquisitive culture and “gimme” values were shocking enough to lead him to question his own goals and destiny, and as he learned English, he began to write about his observations and his growing interest in spirituality.
Kamy's writing has surely been influenced, by his late grandfather, French author and philosopher Lucas Balzer. The renown Balzer, the pen name for Lou Bruder, wrote 'Buisson Arden' ('Burning Bush,' in English). His own spiritual quest has led him to speak out against what he sees as our obsessive brand-naming of our lives, our race to acquire designer clothes, houses, pets, and products. SITTING IN PARADISE repeatedly asks the reader to ignore the brainwashing of the advertising industry and discover what is stark and undeniable in ourselves: our being, our individuality.
Kamy now lives and works in Southern California where he runs successful businesses, and continues to write and to learn. SITTING IN PARADISE will be published in February, 2008.
